Empowering Rural Tourism through Data

DATA4Rural is an Erasmus+ initiative fostering sustainable, inclusive and data-driven rural destinations across Europe.

The project

The Data4Rural is an Erasmus+ initiative that aims to strengthen digital and data-related skills in the rural tourism sector.

Its main goal is to help small businesses, local policymakers, and education providers use digital tools and data more effectively to make informed decisions, design sustainable tourism strategies, and enhance rural competitiveness.

The project seeks to develop an innovative VET programme that equips rural tourism actors with the competences required to participate meaningfully in the data-driven transition of the tourism sector and in emerging European tourism data spaces.

Smarter Rural Tourism with Data

While tourism operators, local administrations, and community actors increasingly recognize the importance of data for evidence-based planning and destination management, many still lack the knowledge, tools, and competencies necessary to collect, interpret and use data effectively.

DATA4Rural curriculum intends to fill this gap supporting rural areas during the  profound transformation the tourism sector is going through.
